Naama Friedmann is a Professor of Neuropsychology of Language at the School of Education, Tel Aviv University, and holds dual affiliation with the Sagol School of Neuroscience. She directs the Language and Brain Laboratory, the Lieselotte Adler Laboratory for Child Development Research, and the MiLa: The Cukier-Goldstein-Goren Center for Mind, Cognition, and Language while holding the Branco Weiss Chair in Child Development.
Her academic foundation includes:
- PhD from Tel Aviv University
- Postdoctoral fellowship at UCSD
Her research integrates neurolinguistics and cognitive neuroscience to investigate syntactic impairments, cross-linguistic dyslexia manifestations, and critical periods for language acquisition. She pioneers applications of linguistic theory in neurosurgical contexts for language preservation during tumor removal, while examining comorbidity between numerical and reading disorders in developmental populations.
Friedmann maintains exceptional mentorship capacity with 64 master's students, 26 doctoral candidates, and six postdoctoral fellows supervised throughout her career. She holds editorial positions in leading neuropsychology and psycholinguistics journals.
Her laboratory ecosystem drives innovation through the Language and Brain Laboratory's neural mapping of language processing, the Lieselotte Adler Laboratory's developmental trajectory studies, and MiLa Center's interdisciplinary synthesis of cognition, language, and mind research.
