Mārtiņš Kalējs is an Associate Professor and Leading Researcher in the Department of Surgery at Riga Stradiņš University. He holds expertise in Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine, and Surgical specialties. His research focuses on cardiovascular surgery, infective endocarditis, and cellular biology, with contributions to understanding aortic valve pathophysiology and surgical outcomes.
Education: Multiple Expert roles (2014–2025) in Clinical Medicine from the Latvian Council of Science.
Research Interests: Heart Surgery, Infective Endocarditis, and Biomechanics of Cardiac Structures. Recent work includes studies on aortic valve cuspidity, surgical outcomes of infective endocarditis, and bioresorbable coronary stents.
