Research Focus
Takıcak's research bridges the history of Ottoman mathematics, philosophy of science, and mathematics education. He examines historical pedagogical approaches in Ottoman institutions, philosophical foundations of mathematical concepts, and the intellectual contributions of Turkish scholars. His work frequently analyzes historical manuscripts and educational reforms from the late Ottoman to early Republican periods.
Publication Analysis
His recent publications demonstrate three interconnected themes: 1) Historical analysis of Ottoman/Turkish mathematicians and their pedagogical contributions, 2) Philosophical examinations of mathematical concepts through Kantian and constructivist frameworks, and 3) Educational studies on geometry teaching methodologies. The research consistently engages with primary sources, including rare manuscripts and academic journals from the Darülfünûn era.
Advising and Projects
Takıcak has supervised Master's theses on Ottoman mathematical manuscripts and geometric art. He served as a researcher on the national project İslam Medeniyetinde Bilim Öncüleri (2020-2021), investigating pioneers in Islamic science.
