Mélanie Henderson is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Université de Montréal and a researcher at CHU Sainte-Justine. She holds a Master's in Clinical Epidemiology (2007) and a PhD in Epidemiology (2013) from McGill University. Her research focuses on pediatric cardiometabolic health, lifestyle interventions, and obesity-related comorbidities, with a particular emphasis on diabetes prevention in children. She co-directs the CIRCUIT center, specializing in cardiovascular intervention and prevention strategies for children.
Awards include the CSEM Young Investigator Award (2019), FRQS Clinician Investigator Awards (2014-2018), and the Diabetes Junior Investigator Award. She has led over 30 funded research projects, including major grants from CIHR, FRQS, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Notable collaborations include work on the QUALITY cohort and the BETTER study.
Her research spans metabolic syndrome in normal-weight children, dietary influences on lipid profiles, and the long-term cardiometabolic consequences of early childhood obesity. Her work highlights the cumulative risks of early-life obesity and the importance of lifestyle interventions in pediatric populations.
