Mª Dolores Barral Rivadulla is a Professor of Art History at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Geography and History. Her research focuses on medieval art, cultural heritage preservation, and the architectural history of Galicia, Spain. She holds a doctorate from the same institution (1995) with a thesis on La Coruña's urban and artistic context in the Late Middle Ages.
Her academic work emphasizes Gothic and Romanesque architectural analysis, religious iconography, and the socio-cultural dynamics of medieval urban centers. Key projects include studies on Galician convents (San Francisco de A Coruña), pilgrimage routes' artistic significance, and the interplay between art and power in medieval Galicia.
Barral Rivadulla is a core member of the Iacobus research group on cultural heritage and the MEDIEVALISM group studying medieval spatial and cultural representations. Her publications span over three decades, addressing topics from medieval sculpture to the material culture of medieval life.
