Myriam Hunter-Henin is a Professor of Comparative Law and Law & Religion at University College London (UCL), Faculty of Laws since October 2021. She holds affiliations with UCL's Global Centre for Democratic Resilience (GCDC), European Institute, and Institute of Human Rights. Her research focuses on law and religion interactions, constitutional law, human rights, and democracy theories. She earned her PhD from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University (2004) and previously held roles as a lecturer, senior lecturer, and reader at UCL, alongside visiting professorships at LUISS (Rome) and UCLouvain.
Education: Graduated in Law in France and England, completed PhD on personal status (awarded Dennery Prize). Key academic contributions include interdisciplinary work on religious symbols in education, secularism, and horizontal human rights application.
Research interests span comparative legal frameworks, democracy resilience, and religious autonomy. Notable contributions address religious neutrality in European courts, religious expression in workplaces, and the role of religious freedom in democratic systems.
Awards: Dennery Prize (2004) for her monograph Pour une redefinition du statut personnel. Organized conferences include 'Negotiating with Religion' series (2012-2013) and 'Law, Religion and Education' (2010).
