Muusa Mia Merituuli Takala serves as a Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Production Animal Medicine within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki, and is an active member of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Veterinary Medicine. Her role positions her at the intersection of veterinary research and clinical training, contributing to the university's mission in advancing animal health sciences.
Her research focuses on infectious pathogens in production animals, particularly Streptococcus uberis—a leading cause of bovine mastitis. She participates in the ministry-funded "Uberis" project (July 2024–March 2028), which aims to develop targeted interventions for mastitis control in dairy herds, addressing critical challenges in livestock productivity and antimicrobial stewardship.
Collaborating under Professor Päivi Rajala-Schultz's leadership, Takala engages in grant-supported research within Finland's agricultural framework. While her publication record remains nascent as a doctoral candidate, her project involvement demonstrates active contribution to veterinary epidemiology. No scientific awards or student supervision activities are documented in her current profile.
