Dr. Mutlu Ozdogan is an Associate Professor of Forest and Wildlife Ecology and Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, jointly appointed in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies and Department of Forest Ecology & Management. He investigates land-use/land-cover conversion and climate change impacts on global water/energy cycles using satellite remote sensing.
His research focuses on:
- Crop monitoring and yield assessment through satellite data
- Water resource management in arid regions
- Agricultural sustainability under climate change
- Development of earth observation algorithms
He leads projects on global irrigation mapping and sustainability assessments, supported by NASA, NSF, and international governments. As co-chair of ISPRS Working Group on Land Cover Dynamics, he contributes to global agricultural monitoring initiatives.
