Muthu De Silva is a Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Head of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange at the Faculty of Business and Law, Birkbeck, University of London. She holds an honorary PhD from University of Manchester and has received academic distinctions including a Distinction MBA from Bradford University and a First Class BSc from University of Peradeniya.

Her research focuses on co-creation within innovation ecosystems, examining how universities, businesses, governments, and society collaborate to generate business, social, and environmental value. She has secured major grants from UKRI, ESRC, Innovate UK, and OECD, and serves on editorial boards of British Journal of Management and Journal of Business Research. As co-investigator of the £7m Innovation and Research Caucus, she leads initiatives in policy engagement and public value creation.

She supervises PhD students in co-creation, innovation policy, and digital transformation, and has designed 60 credits of Birkbeck’s entrepreneurship modules. Her pedagogical approach integrates live case studies, problem-based learning, and industry practitioner engagement.
