Mustafa Caglayan is a Professor of Finance at the School of Social Sciences, Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. He holds dual appointments in the School of Social Sciences and Edinburgh Business School. Previously, he served as a Chair in Economics at the University of Glasgow and a Professor of Economics at the University of Sheffield. His academic journey includes roles at Tufts University, Koc University, and the Universities of Liverpool and Leicester.

Research Interests: Mustafa’s work focuses on financial economics, international finance, and applied macroeconomics. His recent topics include firm investment and cash holding behavior, international trade flows, exchange rate dynamics, corruption impacts, bank lending practices, and price dynamics. His research often bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis, addressing policy-relevant questions in emerging and developed economies.
Professional Contributions: He has supervised PhD students in his research areas and contributed to journals like the American Economic Review and European Economic Review. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in reducing inequalities and fostering economic stability.
