Muslema Pervin is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Department of Physics at Western Michigan University (WMU). She holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from Florida State University (2005), an M.Sc. from the University of Dhaka (1997), and a B.Sc. with honors (1994), also from Dhaka. Her research focuses on nuclear reactions, electroweak transitions in light nuclei, and baryon structure/decays. She has held postdoctoral roles at Argonne National Laboratory (first female in their theoretical physics group) and the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University. She has taught undergraduate physics courses at Kalamazoo College and Grand Valley State University before joining WMU in 2015.
Education:
- Ph.D., Nuclear Physics, Florida State University, 2005
- M.Sc., Physics, University of Dhaka, 1997
- B.Sc., Physics, University of Dhaka, 1994
Research Interests: Her work spans theoretical nuclear physics, including Coulomb dissociation of 8B, electroweak transitions, and weak decays of baryons. She employs advanced methods like Green’s function Monte Carlo (GFMC) and quark models to study nuclear structures and reactions.
Article Trends: Her publications emphasize electroweak interactions, baryon dynamics, and computational techniques like Monte Carlo simulations. Key topics include light nuclei (e.g., 8B, 8Be), quark-based models for heavy baryons, and isospin mixing in nuclear systems.
Advising/Grants: No specific advising roles or grants are detailed in the provided texts.
Labs/Teams: Collaborated with Argonne National Lab’s Physics Division and NSCL’s nuclear theory group, contributing to ab initio calculations and reaction theory.
