Asst. Prof. Murat Tırpan serves as Head of the Department of Cinema and Television at Istanbul Okan University's Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture. He also instructs in the Graduate School of Education's Cinema Television program. His academic roles are based at the Mecidiyeköy and Tuzla campuses.
His research interests span film history, Soviet cinema, documentary techniques, and the sociopolitical dimensions of media. Notable works include analyses of Dziga Vertov's legacy and explorations of gender roles in Turkish cinema.
Prof. Tırpan's publications (2004–2021) focus on film historiography, cinematography techniques, and cultural criticism. He has contributed to discussions on science fiction's ideological underpinnings and the preservation of cinematic heritage.
