Dr. Mukesh K. Jain is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at McMaster University, specializing in materials forming, metal plasticity, and process modeling. He holds academic appointments in the Faculty of Engineering and teaches advanced courses such as MECH ENG 734 (Theory of Plasticity) and MECH ENG 745 (Analytical Fracture and Damage Mechanics). His research focuses on experimental and numerical approaches to material deformation, including formability testing, finite element analysis of forming processes, and microstructure-mechanical property relationships.
Education: B.Sc. from University of Saugar (1977), B.E. from Indian Institute of Science (1980), M.A.Sc. from University of Windsor (1984), and Ph.D. from Washington University (1988).
Research Interests: Experimental and computational methods in metal forming, sheet metal deformation, fracture mechanics, and material characterization. He explores topics like particle distribution effects in aluminum alloys, powder metallurgy processes, and polypropylene tube thermoforming. His work bridges microstructural analysis with macroscopic mechanical behavior.
Advising: Currently accepting graduate students for research in advanced manufacturing and mechanics. His lab engages in collaborative projects with industry partners on automotive materials and process optimization.
