Muhammet ALTAYTAŞ is a Professor at Trakya University Faculty of Theology since 2023, specializing in Islamic theology, Quranic exegesis, and Turkish Islamic identity. He has served as Head of the Department of Theology and History of Islamic Sects since 2013 and Vice Dean (2015-2020).
- Education: PhD (2009) and MA (2001) from Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences/Theology; BA (1996) from Marmara University Faculty of Theology
His research explores Quranic interpretations (e.g., Battle of Badir, People of the Book), religious pluralism, and Islamic philosophical responses to modernity. He has published extensively on Islamic identity in the Balkans, focusing on Turkish communities in Macedonia/Bulgaria. His recent edited work North Macedonia in Ottoman Chronicles (2022) examines historical Islamic scholarship in the region.
