Dr. Muhammed Akmal is a Senior Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University since 2018, specializing in electrical and electronic engineering. He holds a PhD from Queen's University Belfast (2011) and has held prior academic positions at Abu Dhabi University (Associate Professor, 2017–2018; Assistant Professor, 2012–2017). His research focuses on renewable energy integration, microgrids, smart grids, and power system stability. He has secured £125,000+ in research grants and published over 30 peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Akmal is an active reviewer for IEEE and IET journals, and a Senior Member of IEEE.

His recent studies explore fault diagnosis in power systems and optimization of solar energy systems.
