Muhammad Zaheer Abbas

Dr. Muhammad Zaheer Abbas is a Lecturer in Law at the Faculty of Business & Law, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and a Chief Investigator at the Australian Centre for Health Law Research (ACHLR). He specializes in intellectual property law, patent policy, and their intersections with public health and sustainable development goals.

• Research Focus: Intellectual property law, patent opposition systems, equitable access to medicines, pandemic response frameworks, and sustainable development (SDG 3, 9, 17).
• Professional Affiliations: Member of the Global Pandemic Network, Centre for Behavioural Economics, Society and Technology (BEST Centre), and Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law (until 2023).

His work has resulted in over 35 peer-reviewed publications and 45 international conference presentations. He serves as Review Editor for Frontiers in Public Health and has collaborated with the South Centre in Geneva. Teaching subjects include Intellectual Property Law, Media Law, and Introduction to Law.
