Prof. Dr. Mucip DEMİR is a full-time Professor at Kafkas University's Dede Korkut Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education, specializing in Geography Education. His academic journey includes a PhD in Human and Economic Geography from Atatürk University (2009-2013), a Master's in Social Sciences Education from Kafkas University (2007-2009), and a Bachelor's in Geography from Istanbul University (1994-1998).
His research focuses on:

- Regional development in Eastern Anatolia
DEMİR's recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on geospatial analysis using GIS and AHP methods to evaluate renewable energy potential, land use changes, and agricultural systems in Kars province. His work frequently addresses sustainability challenges in rural and urban contexts.
He has led three research projects, including ongoing studies on beekeeping potential (2023-2025) and settlement characteristics in Sarıkamış (2023-2025). As a thesis advisor, he guided one Master's student on geography literacy among social studies teachers. He maintains memberships in the Turkish Geographical Society and American Association of Geographers.
