Professor Moyra Haslett holds a Chair in English at Queen's University Belfast's School of Arts, English and Languages. She joined in 1999 after prior roles at Trinity College Dublin (1991-1995), the University of Luton (1995-1999), and St Patrick's College, Drumcondra (1999). Her research focuses on 17th-19th century literature, particularly women's writing, Irish cultural history, and feminist theories.
She earned a BA (Hons) and PhD from Trinity College Dublin. Notable publications include Byron's Don Juan and the Don Juan Legend (1997), Marxist Literary and Cultural Theories (2000), and Pope to Burney, 1714-1779 (2003). Current projects include co-editing The Oxford Handbook of Irish Song, 1100-1850 and editing Irish Literature in Transition, 1700-1780.
Awards include the British Academy Rose Mary Crawshay Prize (1998) and a Mid-Career Fellowship (2012). She supervises PhDs in 18th-century literature and teaches courses on Romantic poetry and women's writing. Haslett’s research has been supported by AHRC grants for projects like the Irish Song Project (2013-2015) and Early Irish Fiction series.
