Moustapha Ly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at the University of Denver, within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. His academic work focuses on French and Francophone Studies, particularly in postcolonial and diasporic literary traditions.

His research centers on postcolonial literatures, with a strong emphasis on the Francophone Caribbean and the Black Diaspora. He has published on the African novel of postcolonial disillusionment and Caribbean literary traditions in journals such as The French Review, Journal of African and Postcolonial Studies, and Dalhousie French Studies. His scholarly interests span Francophone literature, literary theory, and cultural studies of the African and Caribbean worlds.
Moustapha Ly is affiliated with several academic organizations, including the Caribbean Philosophical Association, African Literature Association, French Colonial Historical Society, and the Modern Language Association. He also holds a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) certificate and a Graduate Certificate in African Studies.
He joined the University of Denver in Fall 2015 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan. He teaches and conducts research in French and Francophone literary and cultural studies, contributing to interdisciplinary dialogue on race, identity, and colonial legacies.
