معرفی
Mounir Maafi is a Senior Lecturer at the Leicester School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, De Montfort University. He holds a PhD in physical/analytical chemistry from Paris 7 University and has held academic and research positions in France, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. His expertise lies in photokinetics, drug photostability, and spectrokinetic analysis.
- Engineer, National Institute of Industrial Chemistry, Algeria
- DEA in Spectrochemical Analysis, Paris 6 and Paris 7 Universities
- PhD in Physical/Analytical Chemistry, Paris 7 University
Dr. Maafi's research focuses on modeling photoreactions, drug photodegradation (particularly anticancer, cardiovascular, and synthetic hormone drugs), photochromic and thermochromic materials, cyclodextrin-based drug delivery systems, and the development of analytical methods for drug stabilization. He has developed novel spectrokinetic methods for characterizing photochromic systems and actinometry applications.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend in the kinetic modeling of photoreactions under both monochromatic and polychromatic light, with applications in drug stability and actinometry. His work bridges physical chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences, emphasizing quantitative analysis of photochemical processes and the development of reliable analytical tools for drug photostability assessment.
Dr. Maafi has received notable recognition including inclusion in Who’s Who in the World (2008) and the Dictionary of International Biography (34th edition, 2008). He was also nominated for a DMU Vice Chancellors Distinguished Teaching Award.

He supervises several PhD students including Damerdji Wassila, Lok Yan Lee, and Leonie Hough. He is preparing an externally funded research project on drug stability. Dr. Maafi serves as an editor for the E-Journal of Chemistry and as a referee for multiple scientific journals, contributing significantly to the peer review process in photochemistry and analytical chemistry.
Dr. Maafi is affiliated with the Chemistry for Health research group at DMU, where his work contributes to advancing pharmaceutical stability and analytical methodologies. His international collaborations and editorial roles underscore his standing in the scientific community.
