Mosuk Chow is a Research Professor of Statistics and Director of the Master of Applied Statistics (M.A.S.) Program at the Department of Statistics, Pennsylvania State University. She has held roles including Co-leader of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design Core at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute since 2010. Her research focuses on biostatistics, statistical decision theory, and sampling methods, with applications in clinical research, biology, genetics, and fisheries.
Chow earned her Ph.D. (1983), M.S. (1981) in Statistics from Cornell University, and B.S. in Mathematics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (1978). Her work bridges theoretical advancements in decision theory and practical methodologies for estimation and sampling, often collaborating with clinical researchers.
Her publications span statistical decision theory, Bayesian methods, and sampling techniques. She has contributed to the development of efficient estimation algorithms and minimax theory. As program director for the M.A.S. program, she has trained numerous students for industry roles in data analysis.
Notable contributions include work on admissibility of estimators, sequential estimation under loss functions, and reproducibility in curve-based data. She teaches STAT 506 (Sampling Theory and Methods) and STAT 509 (Design and Analysis of Clinical Trials).
