Mortimer Müller

Mortimer Müller is a researcher at the Institute of Silviculture, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. His work focuses on forest fire prevention, monitoring, controlled burning, and post-fire management, with a particular emphasis on abiotic forest damage factors and environmental conservation. He also applies graphics and image processing in his research and engages in public relations for wildfire awareness.

• Education: Dr.rer.nat. (2021), Dipl.-Ing. (2012) in Forestry.
• Key Research Areas: Forest fire vulnerability indicators, citizen science applications, and integrated fire danger assessment systems.

Scientific Awards:

• BOKU Best Talent Award 2021 for his dissertation work, supported by the Anniversary Fund of the City of Vienna.

Müller has delivered over 50 lectures and presentations internationally, including at the EGU General Assembly, IUFRO World Congress, and workshops in Austria, Brazil, Sweden, and Switzerland. He co-developed the citizen science app spotFIRE to enhance forest fire prevention and contributed to Austria's forest fire database and risk modeling systems.
