Morgan Miller is a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, working in the Sandoghdar Division. His research focuses on super-resolution microscopy, fluid dynamics, and instrumentation development for studying particle dynamics. He holds a B.S. in Physics (2014) and a Ph.D. in Nanoengineering (2020) from the University of California San Diego, where his doctoral work involved developing novel instruments for nanoparticle impact dynamics in collaboration with ASML and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
His research interests include experimental approaches to astrobiology, planetary science, and vacuum system design, with recent projects exploring hypervelocity ice grain impacts and biosignature detection. He has contributed to advancements in mass spectrometry techniques for analyzing planetary ice particles and pioneered instrumentation such as the Aerosol Impact Spectrometer.
Miller has held postdoctoral roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific (2021) and collaborated with groups led by Dr. Stojan Madzunkov (Planetary Mass Spectrometry) and Dr. Morgan Cable (Exobiology). His work bridges engineering and space science, emphasizing interdisciplinary solutions for analyzing small-scale particle behavior in extreme environments.
