Dr. Morgan Gustison is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Western University. She leads the Laboratory of Social NeuroEthology, focusing on interdisciplinary research exploring how social behaviors evolve and their neural underpinnings. Her work bridges zoology, psychology, and neuroscience across species and biological levels.
Education: B.A. Zoology & Psychology (University of Wisconsin-Madison), M.Sc. (University of Roehampton), Ph.D. (University of Michigan). Postdoctoral research at Princeton Neuroscience Institute and University of Texas at Austin explored neural systems of social bonding in rodents. At Western University since 2023.
Research interests include social behavior evolution, communication mechanisms, and the neurobiology of social bonding. Uses comparative approaches with mammals like geladas and prairie voles. Current projects examine communication behaviors' role in social connections and neural systems supporting monogamy.
Lab activities emphasize collaborative, interdisciplinary research. Active in recruiting motivated researchers to join studies on social neuroethology.
