Mor Cohen

Dr Mor Cohen serves as a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the School of Geography and Planning, University of Sheffield, joining in September 2022. His work bridges geography and art research, focusing on political dimensions of creative practices in contested regions.

His educational foundation includes a PhD from Manchester Metropolitan University (2020), an MA in Policy and Theory of the Arts from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, and a BA in Art History and Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professional background encompasses archival work at Yad Vashem and educational roles in Jerusalem and Manchester.

Research centers on how marginalized communities utilize art for resistance, examining Palestinian and Mizrahi creative spaces in Israel/Palestine. His Leverhulme-funded project The Long 1970s: Spaces of Dissent and the Politics of Art in Israel/Palestine analyzes 1970s anti-colonial legacies through visual studies and geographical methodologies to understand art's role in settler-colonial resistance movements.
