معرفی
Monika Pilśniak is a Professor at the Department of Discrete Mathematics, Faculty of Applied Mathematics, AGH University of Science and Technology, Kraków, Poland. She obtained her Ph.D. (2004) and Habilitation (2018) in mathematics from Polish institutions and has held academic positions since 2000, including a Professor title granted by the President of Poland in 2024.
- Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics (AGH University, 2004), Master of Science in Computer Science (Jagiellonian University, 2002), Master of Science in Mathematics (Jagiellonian University, 2000)
Research interests focus on symmetry breaking in finite and infinite graphs, paired and total domination in graphs, vertex distinguishing colorings, graph decompositions, and graph/hypergraph packings. Her work often intersects combinatorial graph theory with algorithmic applications.
Recent publications emphasize distinguishing colorings, domination theory, and structural analysis of graph classes like line graphs and symmetric digraphs. Trends include exploring chromatic numbers in hereditary classes, majority edge-colorings, and Sierpinski domination.
- Scientific awards:
- Rector AGH University awards (I, II, III degrees)
- Petra Šparl International Prize for Young Woman Mathematician (2018)
- Medal of the National Education Commission (2017)
- AGH Teacher Laurel (2021)
Grants: Led projects on symmetry breaking (Austria-Poland, 2017–2019) and graph coloring/decompositions (Polish Ministry, 2007–2010). Active in international conferences across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
