Monika Bauhr is a Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Gothenburg, and a research fellow at the Quality of Government Institute. She has held visiting scholar positions at Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Dar es Salaam. Her research focuses on corruption, quality of government, and gender representation. She led the ANTICORRP project (2014–2017), a major EU-funded initiative involving 20 institutions across Europe. Her work explores how transparency, democracy, and gender influence corruption dynamics.
Current Projects:
- "Why are some democracies less corrupt than others?" (Swedish Research Council grant).
- "Measuring Subnational Quality of Government" (European Commission grant).
Teaching: She teaches research methods, international environmental politics, and supervises doctoral theses. She contributed to the Minor Field Studies Committee, a SIDA-funded program for global development research.
