Monica Nyström is an Associate Professor (on leave) at the Department of Epidemiology and Global Health, Umeå University, and also employed at Karolinska Institutet's Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME). Her research focuses on implementation processes, organizational learning, and large-scale system transformation in healthcare. She holds a PhD in Work and Organizational Psychology.
Research Projects:
- 2015–2017: Using national quality registries to improve care for older people
- 2010–2012: Systematic monitoring to support healthcare learning and development
Research Interests: Implementation science, healthcare quality improvement, systems thinking, policy implementation, and organizational development. Her work emphasizes multi-level interventions to enhance healthcare systems and address health inequities.
Professional Contributions: Collaborates with national and international teams on health policy, participatory research, and evidence-based practices. Active in knowledge translation and bridging research-policy gaps, particularly in maternal healthcare and aging populations.
Labs/Teams: Engaged with the Medical Management Centre at Karolinska Institutet and contributes to cross-sectoral initiatives like the Swedish Salut Programme.
