Dr. Monica Lopez Viso is a Professor at the University of Vigo's Faculty of Education and Social Work, in the Department of Sociology, Political Science, Administration, and Philosophy (Ourense campus). She has held this position since 1995 and concurrently serves as a tutor at Spain's National University of Distance Education (UNED). Her academic leadership includes roles as Academic Secretary for the Official Master's in Public Management and Institutional Leadership (since 2011) and past coordination of the Social Work degree program (2021-2024).
She holds a PhD in Political Science and Sociology from Complutense University of Madrid (2002), supervised by Dr. Santiago Petschen Verdaguer. Her research focuses on:
- European Social Policy and EU cohesion mechanisms
- Family law dynamics, particularly child custody and alimony
- Innovations in online education and e-learning methodologies
- Academic institutionalization processes in higher education
Recent publications analyze family court decisions in post-divorce scenarios (2021, 2024), academic coordination in online master's programs (2023), and the impact of Brexit on European social policy (2020). Her work consistently integrates socio-legal analysis with educational innovation frameworks.
Key professional recognitions include positive Docentia teaching evaluations ('Very Favorable' 2010-2015; 'Remarkable' 2014-2019) and membership in the Governance Observatory G³ research group. She currently serves on SEPIE's Panel of External Experts for Erasmus+ projects and previously directed a Jean Monnet Module on EU Social Policy (2005-2008).
