Moisés Almela Sánchez is an Associate Professor of English Philology at the University of Murcia, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He is a member of the LACELL research group (Linguistics Applied to Computing, Language Teaching, and Lexicography). His doctoral thesis (2006) explored corpus-driven approaches to collocation, idiomatic patterns, and lexical units, supervised by Dr. Aquilino Sánchez Pérez and Dr. Pascual Cantos Gómez.
His research focuses on corpus linguistics, lexical semantics, and computational methods for semantic analysis. He has pioneered the 'lexical constellation' model to address limitations in traditional collocation-based techniques. Key contributions include applying this model to word sense disambiguation (WSD), analyzing indirect lexical attraction phenomena, and refining corpus-driven methodologies.
Publications span peer-reviewed journals like English Studies and edited volumes on corpus linguistics. His work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical applications in lexicography and language teaching. He collaborates with international scholars on projects involving multilingual corpus analysis and cognitive approaches to lexical meaning.
