معرفی
Mohsen Sharifpur is a Full Professor in the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), South Africa. He previously established the Nanofluid Research Laboratory at the University of Pretoria in 2010, a leading research center in Africa for nanofluid studies. His academic credentials include a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (thermal-fluid) from Eastern Mediterranean University, a Master’s in Nuclear Engineering (Reactor thermal-fluid), and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
His research focuses on heat transfer enhancement, nanofluids, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multiphase flow, phase-change materials, and entropy generation. He has developed a novel multidisciplinary theory called the Source and Sink Theory, integrating fluid dynamics, constructal law, and cosmological data to model early universe behavior. His work combines experimental, numerical, and machine learning techniques to advance thermal systems in energy, solar technology, and battery management.
The recent publications show a strong trend toward magnetic hybrid nanofluids, microchannel cooling, solar thermal systems, entropy analysis, and machine learning integration. These studies often involve experimental validation and computational modeling, reflecting a rigorous, multidisciplinary approach to solving complex thermal engineering problems.
- C2 scientist rating from the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa (2016)
- Recognized within the top 2% of highly cited researchers globally since 2020
Professor Sharifpur has authored or co-authored over 350 peer-reviewed articles and co-edited an Elsevier book titled Nanofluid Applications for Advanced Thermal Solutions. He has supervised over 35 post-doctoral researchers and graduate students. He serves as an editor or guest editor for several journals and is a frequent keynote speaker and scientific committee member at international conferences. His research has been supported by various national and international grants, though specific funding details are not listed in the source text. He leads a productive research group focused on advanced thermal solutions and sustainable energy systems.
He established the Nanofluid Research Laboratory at the University of Pretoria, which remains one of Africa’s most active centers in this field. His team conducts experimental and computational research on nanofluid behavior, heat exchanger design, and renewable energy integration, fostering innovation in both academic and industrial applications.
