Mohsen Bazargan

Dr. Mohsen Bazargan is a Professor and Faculty Trustee at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science (CDU), where he also serves as Director of Research in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health. He holds an adjunct professorship at UCLA School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine. His expertise lies in medical sociology, focusing on aging, health disparities, and minority health. Dr. Bazargan earned his PhD in Medical Sociology from SUNY Buffalo and has been at CDU since 1993. He previously taught at Xavier University.

His research addresses health disparities among racial/ethnic minorities and socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, particularly older African Americans. Key areas include healthcare access, barriers to care, chronic disease management, and medication adherence. He has secured over $5 million in federal grants from agencies like CMS, NIMHD, and HRSA. Notable roles include leading CDU's Academic Senate and Strategic Planning Committee, and managing major institutional grants like Project EXPORT and the Cancer Research Center.

Dr. Bazargan's recent work includes interventions targeting food insecurity, telehealth adoption during the pandemic, and health equity strategies. He has authored over 110 publications and is a leader in training minority faculty through NIH-funded programs.
