معرفی
Mohammed Johir is a Lecturer at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, with an appointment since March 2019. He holds an ORCID identifier 0000-0001-6222-6943 and can be contacted at Mohammed.Johir@uts.edu.au. His academic journey includes a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering (2011-2015), Master of Engineering (2008-2009), and Graduate Certificate in Environmental Engineering (2007), all from UTS, plus a BSc in Civil Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology in Bangladesh (2000-2005).
His research focuses on environmental engineering with particular emphasis on wastewater treatment, membrane technology, microplastics, and microalgae-based systems. Dr. Johir's work spans from fundamental material science to practical applications in water treatment and resource recovery. He has published extensively in high-impact journals, with recent publications addressing critical challenges in anaerobic membrane bioreactors for industrial wastewater, microalgae-derived biolubricants, and innovative methods for microplastic fiber analysis in laundry wastewater.
His publication portfolio shows a clear trend toward sustainable water treatment technologies, with significant contributions in
- Advanced membrane processes for wastewater treatment
- Microalgae-based carbon capture and nutrient recovery systems
- Novel materials for water contaminant removal
- Atmospheric water harvesting technologies
- Resource recovery from waste streams
Dr. Johir is actively involved in several funded research projects including:
- Fate of antimicrobial resistance genes during anaerobic digestion (SAFER CRC)
- Assessment of novel catalytic processes for degrading triazoles in semiconductor wastewater
- Water filtration challenges related to plastic microfibers from laundry wastewater
- Solar-driven produced water treatment systems
- Nutrient recovery from anaerobic digestate
He is also affiliated with the Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater (CTWW) at UTS, where he contributes to collaborative research bridging academic innovation with industry applications in water treatment and resource recovery.
