Mohammed Javed

Dr. Mohammed Javed is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad) since 2018. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Mysore and is an IETE Fellow (2023) and INAE Fellow Mentee. His research focuses on image processing, pattern recognition, and data compression, with additional affiliations to the Institute for AI and Data Science (SUNY Buffalo, USA) and Takushoku University (Japan). He has been a visiting researcher at institutions including Stanford University, Google, Adobe, and Yale University.

Research Interests: Dr. Javed’s work spans image processing, pattern recognition, data compression, and compressed sensing. He leads the Computer Vision and Biometrics Lab (CVBL) and investigates AI-driven solutions for video/image compression and biometric systems. His research has been supported by grants from MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs), SERB-DST, CSIR, DRDO, and ISRO.

• Recipient of multiple travel grants (DST-SERB, GREC2023, DCC2020)
• Organized international conferences like CVMI-2022 and IEEE UPCON-2022
• Secured grants for events like ADASIVA, IAPR-CVIP, and IAPR-CVMI

Advising & Projects: Successfully guided one PhD student and supervises two more. Currently managing R&D projects, including a Ministry of Home Affairs-funded initiative. Actively reviews for journals like IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Informatics and Digital Signal Processing.

Labs & Teams: Heads the CVBL lab, collaborating on projects in computer vision, biometrics, and AI. Part of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC 42 (AI Standards Committee).
