Mohammad Shahidehpour is the Robert W. Galvin Electricity Innovation Endowed Chair at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), where he serves as Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation and Associate Director of the Wanger Institute for Sustainability and Energy Research. He holds a D.Sc. from Polytechnic University of Bucharest (2009), Ph.D. from University of Missouri (1981), M.Sc. from University of Missouri (1978), and B.Sc. from Sharif University of Technology (1977).
His research focuses on power system operation and control, smart grid development, and large-scale integration of renewable energy. He has pioneered campus microgrid implementation and cybersecurity research for smart cities.
His publications demonstrate expertise in resilient power systems, microgrid clustering, hydrogen energy systems, and AI applications in energy management. Recent work explores quantum computing for power dispatch, mobile microgrids for emergency response, and cybersecurity in virtual power plants.
