Dr. Mohammad Raoufi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), affiliated with the Department of Engineering and the NRES Graduate Program. His expertise bridges academia and industry, focusing on improving construction practices through innovative methodologies.
He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a Professional Engineer (PEng). Prior to academia, he gained extensive experience in designing and constructing industrial plants, infrastructure projects, and governmental/residential buildings.
His research interests revolve around construction engineering and management, with emphasis on workforce well-being (including motivation, mental health, and safety), sustainable energy systems, and advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, fuzzy logic, and simulation modeling. He is particularly committed to addressing challenges in productivity optimization, digitalization, and automation within the Canadian construction sector, especially in British Columbia.
Dr. Raoufi has pioneered frameworks such as the Digitalization Opportunities Road Mapping Tool (DORMT©) to guide industry transformation. His work also explores pandemic-era operational changes and future-proof best practices for construction organizations.
