Dr. Mohammad Rahmati is a researcher at Northumbria University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in turbomachinery design, renewable energy systems, and aeroelasticity analysis. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University College London (UCL), where he developed viscous inverse methods for turbomachinery blade design. His work includes pioneering contributions to wave energy conversion (WRASPA model) and computational tools for aeroelasticity analysis in multi-stage turbines. Key collaborations include experimental studies at Manchester, Edinburgh, and Lancaster Universities, and research at the Rolls-Royce Centre in Oxford. He currently supervises PhD students in wind farm optimization and plasma actuation for vertical axis turbines. His research has secured EPSRC grants for instability studies in low-pressure turbines.
Education: PhD in Mechanical Engineering (UCL), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2016), Member of ASME (2004).
Research Interests: Innovative blade design methods, renewable energy device development, computational fluid dynamics, and aeroelastic performance optimization. Recent work includes Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology for fluid-particle interaction studies and machine learning for wind farm power prediction.
