His research centers on the social construction of the (un)sayable, particularly among Iranian exiled writers. He employs the heuristic concept of "unsayability" to analyze manifestations of saying and unsaying in social formation processes, with special focus on internet and social networks where contemporary exile literature increasingly takes digital form. His methodological approach involves (auto)ethnography, reflecting his core academic interest in "strangeness" - examining both the thematic study of exiles and the methodological process of "understanding" and "non-understanding".
His scholarly work intersects with Bielefeld University's strategic research area of the Socio-Technical World, which investigates capabilities enabling agents like humans and AI to act and communicate in complex environments.
