Mohamed Laradji is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Memphis. He joined the university in 2002 after postdoctoral research at the University of Georgia and University of Toronto, and prior roles at the University of Prince Edward Island and Lucent Technologies. His research focuses on computational soft matter and biological physics, specifically biomembranes, polymers, and nanocomposites. Dr. Laradji is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and has received the Distinguished Research in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Award.

Research Interests:
Dr. Laradji’s work explores phase separation in biomembranes, lipid rafts, nanoparticle-membrane interactions, and polymer dynamics using computational methods like molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations. His recent studies include blebbing of lipid membranes, spontaneous endocytosis of nanoparticles, and polymer-grafted lipid membranes.
Funding & Collaborations:
His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and Petroleum Research Fund. Collaborators include P.B. Sunil Kumar (IIT Madras), Omar Skalli (University of Memphis), and Maria Sperotto (Technical University of Denmark).

He has advised numerous PhD and MS students, including current advisees Eric Spangler and Alexander Olinger. Courses taught include Polymer Physics, Methods of Theoretical Physics, and Soft Matter and Biological Physics.
