Dr. Mohamed Ghaly is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Finance at Lancaster University Management School, Department of Accounting and Finance. He joined Lancaster in 2015 after completing doctoral studies at the University of Manchester. His primary research examines corporate financial strategies within labor market contexts.
His research interests focus on how firms' financing and investment decisions interact with strategic behavior in labor and product markets, particularly investigating how human capital influences corporate financing choices. Additional research explores corporate governance mechanisms and innovation ecosystems.
Ghaly's publications analyze corporate risk management through financial instruments like options markets, institutional investment horizons, and cash holding strategies relative to labor composition. His work connects financial decision-making with human resource management and market behavior.
He currently advises PhD student Leonor Guedes Soares and leads research projects including 'Future-proof graduate employability' (2024-2025) focused on bridging academia-industry skill gaps. Ghaly actively participates in academic conferences including AFA Annual Meetings and Corporate Finance conferences.
