Associate Professor Mitchell O'Toole is an Honorary Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Newcastle. With over four decades of experience in science education across schools and universities in Australia, China, and other international contexts, he specializes in language across the curriculum, science education, and assessment strategies. His career spans roles as a science coordinator, language curriculum coordinator, and educator in diverse systems including Catholic and independent schools.

- Professional Experience: Consultant for organizations such as Australian School Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics (ASISTM) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

He has authored numerous books and journal articles addressing scientific literacy, curriculum design, and educational technology.
Publications: Over 50+ journal articles, 11 books, and 8 chapters, including influential works on EMI in Vietnam, Saudi Arabian physics education, and the role of literature in environmental values development.
