Misty Wilcox

Misty Wilcox is a Researcher at Queen Margaret University (QMU) within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (DNBS). She is affiliated with the Chronic Health and Rehabilitation Research Group (CHEARR). Her current role involves leading a Kidney Research UK-funded project titled 'Co-design, development and evaluation of the KIDNEY BEAM-KIDS platform for paediatric kidney transplant recipients: a feasibility study,' a multi-centre clinical trial across Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland.

Wilcox holds an MSc from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she contributed to health surveillance data analysis with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Hawaii Department of Health (DOH). She has over ten years of experience in academia and healthcare, including roles as an undergraduate research assistant studying Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) for appetite and stress monitoring, and as a dietitian specializing in pediatric therapeutic menus (renal, carbohydrate-controlled, and allergen-free).

Her research focuses on improving health outcomes for individuals with chronic diseases through nutritional strategies, lifestyle interventions, and community-based support systems. She employs mixed-methods, systematic reviews, and clinical trials in her work. Wilcox has also contributed to teaching in nutrition assessment, medical nutrition therapy, and community nutrition at the University of Hawaii.

Her professional experience includes clinical support in hospital departments such as nutrition services, A&E, critical care, and maternity. She advocates for expanding interventions to enhance quality of life for vulnerable populations.
