Misty D. Lambert is an Associate Professor at North Carolina State University (NC State), serving as the LEAP Teaching Licensure Program Coordinator and DELTA Program Director within the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. A first-generation college graduate and former high school agriculture teacher, Lambert’s career spans roles at Oregon State University (where she was tenured) and Iowa State University before returning to NC State. Her work focuses on teacher education, curriculum development, and supporting early career educators.
She holds a BS and MS in Agricultural Education from NC State and a PhD in Agricultural Education Teacher Education from the University of Missouri. Her research interests include agricultural education curriculum design, teacher professional development, and addressing barriers to agricultural career pathways, particularly for underserved populations.
Lambert’s publications analyze topics such as teacher induction programs, farmer adoption of agricultural technologies in Ghana, and the impact of school farms. Her awards include the 2023 Article of the Year from JIAEE and the NACTA Educator Award (2019). She has also received honorary FFA degrees from North Carolina and Oregon.
Her advising and educational initiatives include leadership in the LEAP program (supporting licensure for agricultural professionals) and Career PACCS (agricultural pathways for community college students). Her work bridges practical classroom challenges with policy and program development to enhance agricultural education’s reach and effectiveness.
