Rev. Prof. Mirosław Sitarz is a Professor at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), serving as Head of the Department of Public and Constitutional Church Law and Vice-Rector for Mission and Administration since 2020. He holds a habilitation in Canon Law and has been a faculty member since 1995. His academic journey includes studies at KUL, where he earned his licentiate and doctorate in Canon Law, followed by habilitation in 2009.
Prof. Sitarz specializes in constitutional church law, church-state relations, and ecclesiastical administration. He has supervised over 100 Master's theses and 22 doctoral dissertations, while also reviewing numerous academic works. His research spans topics such as the legislative power of bishops' conferences, pandemic-era sacramental access, and historical church-state dynamics in Poland.
His career includes roles at other institutions like Ryszard Lazarski Higher School of Commerce and Law in Warsaw. He has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Gold Medal for Merit to Polish Science (2023), the Bronze Cross of Merit (2020), and the 'Lublin Acanthus of Entrepreneurship' Award (2024). He has organized international conferences on canon law and authored over 500 publications, including the Lexicon of Canon Law.
Prof. Sitarz actively contributes to academic and pastoral life, promoting Christian values and interfaith dialogue. His work emphasizes legal frameworks for church governance and the role of faith in contemporary society.
