His research explores the legal-political conflicts surrounding EU symbols, citizenship rights and abuses, civic participation mechanisms, and institutional governance challenges. Recent work examines the EU flag's contested symbolism and the democratic legitimacy of European Commission elections.
Piotrowski’s publications reveal a consistent focus on European Union law, historical foundations of EU institutions, and legal absurdities in European integration processes. His 2025 article in Church and Law analyzes the flag’s religious-historical symbolism and legal-political implications, while earlier works critique the democratic deficit in treaty referenda and citizen initiatives.
He supervises graduate research, including Eduard Lubusch’s 2025 Master’s thesis on Soviet-era Polish citizenship. His academic contact details include email miroslaw.piotrowski@kul.pl and ORCID ID 0000-0003-1517-0128.
