Miroslav Lovric is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University, Faculty of Science. He holds a PhD in Mathematics (1990) from The Ohio State University, following an MSc (1984) and BSc (1981) from the University of Zagreb. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Fields Institute (1992–1993).
His research focuses on mathematics education, including curriculum design, transition challenges between secondary and tertiary education, and pedagogical strategies in teaching non-mathematicians. He explores topics like numeracy tasks, textbook analysis, and conceptual misunderstandings. Additionally, he has contributed to differential geometry and mathematical modeling in cancer biology.
Lovric teaches courses such as Calculus for Math and Stats, Numeracy, Analysis, and Problem Solving at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His work emphasizes bridging theoretical mathematics with practical applications, particularly in life sciences and interdisciplinary education.
His scholarly contributions span over 45 publications in journals like Canadian Journal of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education, PRIMUS, and International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology.
