Mirko Musa

Mirko Musa is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Hydraulic Engineering at the Institute of Civil Engineering (IIC) at EPFL. He leads the STREEM Lab (Sustainable River Engineering, Energy, and Morphodynamics), focusing on advancing water power technologies while ensuring environmental sustainability through laboratory experiments, data analysis, and analytical modeling. His research spans hydraulics, river mechanics, morphodynamics, hydropower, and hydrokinetic energy.

Education:

• B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering, University of Trento, Italy
• Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering, University of Minnesota

Research Contributions: Investigates turbine operations' impacts on river morphodynamics, sediment transport dynamics, and renewable energy integration. His work bridges experimental hydraulics with environmental sustainability.
