Mirjam Lücking is a researcher in social and cultural anthropology, specializing in migration dynamics and religious practices between Indonesia and the Arab world. She holds a PhD from the University of Freiburg, focusing on labor migrants and Mecca pilgrims. Since 2015, she has been a Research Assistant at the Institute of Ethnology and later the Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology, contributing to projects funded by BMBF and the New University Foundation. Her fieldwork spans Indonesia (Central Java, Madura, Yogyakarta) and Morocco (Fez), examining topics such as conceptions of the Arab world among Indonesians, governance reforms, and the role of female Muslim preachers (Mourchidat) in Morocco.
