Mirjam Kotwick is an Associate Professor of Classics at Princeton University, where she serves as the Director of Graduate Studies. Prior to joining Princeton in 2020, she taught at the New School for Social Research and the University of Cincinnati. Her research bridges Greek philosophy, literature, and textual criticism, with a focus on Aristotle’s works, the Derveni papyrus, and hermeneutics.
Her scholarly output includes critical studies on Aristotle’s Metaphysics and the Der Papyrus von Derveni, the latter offering the first German translation and commentary of the Derveni papyrus. Current projects involve exploring ancient dream interpretation as a hermeneutic practice and applying machine learning to textual restoration. She teaches undergraduate courses in Greek language and philosophy, as well as graduate seminars in ancient philosophy.
Her publications highlight expertise in textual criticism, early Greek intellectual history, and interdisciplinary methodologies. Collaborations with initiatives like the Logion Project underscore her engagement with computational approaches to classical scholarship.
