Miriam Salinas Guirao

Miriam Salinas Guirao is a Predoctoral Researcher at the University of Murcia's Faculty of Communication and Documentation, within the Journalism department. Her research focuses on the origins and evolution of crime journalism in 19th-century Spain and the historical analysis of the Murcian press. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Murcia and a Master's in Political and Social Leadership from Carlos III University of Madrid.

Her work combines historical methodologies with media studies, analyzing narrative styles in early crime reporting, political conflicts in periodicals, and leadership symbolism in historical contexts. Notable contributions include a catalog of Murcian press titles (2024) and studies on journalistic coverage of the Spanish flu pandemic (2023) and 19th-century political scandals involving prominent figures like Rafael del Riego and Antonio Cánovas del Castillo.

Salinas Guirao has been affiliated with the "Periodismo y Comunicación Social" research group and previously coordinated corporate communication for institutions like the Regional College of Journalists in Murcia. Her current FPU Inves-Um grant supports investigations into regional press identity, women's roles in journalism, and digital media evolution in Murcia.
